Healthy living and eating is a way of life for me. From my morning workouts to the meals I make at home, I believe that what we put in our bodies matters.
Having said that, traveling, jet lag and a busy schedule at home has been taking a heavy toll on my skin. Recently I came back from Athens, where I overindulged by spending too much time under the sun, add to that an 11 hour flight the day after, followed by a hectic couple of days and my skin was feeling dull, tired and in need of something to bring back its brightness.
Always on the look out for natural alternatives, I decided to try one of the new expert face masks by The Body Shop. This new line is vegetarian, and has no silicone, parabens, mineral oils or paraffins. Being obsessed with everything Açai (recipe for a pretty rad breakfast bowl below!) I had to go for the 100 % vegan Amazonian Açai energizing radiance mask. Ingredient wise, this jar is pretty much a powerhouse. Açai berry extract full of antioxidants, Vitamin C proven to reduce the appearance of fatigue, Guarana seed extract from Brazil known for its energy boosting properties, and lastly, community trade babassu oil, to help with softness and brightness.
15 minutes at home with the mask on, left my skin with a luminous glow while feeling energized, hydrated and clear . I am so happy about it that I’ll be using it weekly and bringing it with me on all of my trips from now on. I’m also going to be taking it easy on my love for laying under the sun ( hello 202 freckles!)
The benefits of Açai don’t end with only making your skin glow, they also protect the body against harmful free radicals. Below you will find my recipe for a breakfast Açai bowl with coconut granola, that I tried during a stay in Hawaii and knew I would be making it at home. I hope becomes one of your favourite ways to start your morning. Feel free to use any other fruits you like.
