Summer staycation at the Four Seasons Toronto.

Real talk. Flying all over, being a parent and constantly running around, left me dreaming of a few days off where I could sleep in a bit, recharge, walk around Toronto without rushing and enjoy the summer weather we’ve been having. So when the opportunity came to spend a few days at The Four seasons in Yorkville, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to enjoy a staycation in this beautiful city I call home.

I have always loved attention to detail and design. The lobby  was designed by Yabu Pushelberg, and from the moment I walked into the hotel,  the mood and beauty of this brilliant space couldn’t go by unnoticed. The high ceilings, lighting, flower bouquets and art work, felt like the perfect welcome to start a weekend in the urban oasis that is the Four Seasons and the neighbourhood that hosts the best hotel in the city.

Our room was absolutely stunning. From it’s contemporary feel, open concept and design, to the view from the window, where Yorkville awaits. A bottle of chilled Riesling, fresh fruit, and Daniel Boulud’s book, were the perfect way to start our stay. Favourite ammenity, was a nespresso machine, so there I was, instantly in love 🙂 The washroom was one of my favourite areas, with a bathtub where I could stay for ours, Etro toiletries and  his and her sinks.. I didn’t want to leave, but it was time for a short workout before heading out.

I need to workout almost daily, so a hotel’s gym is what makes it or breaks it for me. The gym at the Four Seasons is pretty much one of the best gyms I’ve been to. State of the art equipment, super spacious, and with a yoga studio that has  floor to ceiling windows, with views of the city. If a class is not being taught, the room is perfect to do your own workout as well. Burpees and lunges for the win!

After a very needed workout, I checked out the SPA which at 30,000 square foot, is the largest in Toronto. The pool was the perfect spot to unwind before walking around Yorkville for a late lunch.  We decided on Chabrol, a pure gem of a restaurant, where food is unparalleled, and that made to order apple tart is to die for. Later we had coffee at Sorry, inside of Kit and Ace, followed by a quick stop at Free people.

After a night out, we came back to our room to one very comfortable bed. Literally had one of the best sleeps of life. I slept in and didn’t wake up once! Lattes in the morning followed by brunch at Cafe Boulud were definitely  some of the highlighst of our stay.  For brunch we had, french toast, a berry tartine, carrot soup, huevos con chorizo ,and pancakes with blueberry sauce. Each dish, full of flavour, made with local ingredients. Paradise!

After the weekend went by, I was reminded that weekends away without a care in the world, are very much needed. That sleeping in from time to time, is necessary and that exploring more of your own city never gets old, especially if you get to stay at a place where costumer service, is simply the best around .

What’s your favourite part about staycations ?
